Introducing Wolfenoot
November 15, 2020

There’s a new pet holiday on the calendar! Joining the ranks of such adorable celebrations as Answer Your Cat’s Questions Day and If Pets Had Thumbs Day, we now have Wolfenoot, a ‘pawesome’ celebration of wolves, dogs, and anyone who has been kind to them. A local vet introduces to this new doggy holiday in this article.

History

Wolfenoot hasn’t been around for long, but it’s already made quite an impression on the internet. It was started in 2018 by a little boy from New Zealand. The child had what may be one of the best ideas ever: to celebrate the ‘Spirit of the Wolf’ and anyone who has dogs or has been kind to them. His mom helped him promote the idea, and before long, the word started to spread. The rest is history!

A Pawspicious Occasion

Wolfenoot is November 23rd. Why the 23rd? This is the anniversary of the death of the ‘Great Wolf,’ an event described in the Wolfenoot Story book. That book, which was written by the child who had the idea, can be purchased via the Patchwork Raven here .

Celebrating

What does celebrating Wolfenoot entail? The ‘Spirit of the Wolf’ will hide small presents for anyone who loves or has been kind to dogs. If you want to get your canine pal involved, you can also hide some things for him to sniff out. Once all the gifts have been found, then participants—also known as the Wolfenati—should enjoy some red meat. Why meat? Because that’s what wolves eat! (Veggie burgers will work too.) Dessert should be a cake decorated like a full moon. As for Fido, give him something yummy as well. Finally, wind down with a wolf or dog movie or documentary. Use the hashtag #wolfenoot and the even more adorable #nohateonlysnootboops to post about your holiday on social media.

Helping Dogs

Helping dogs in need also honors the spirit of Wolfenoot. There are many wonderful charities and animal rescues that could always use donations or social media support. You can also help support a conservation society that works with wolves.
