Foreign Bodies
March 15, 2017

Many pets love playing with items around the house but we need to keep a close eye to make sure they aren’t chewing on something there are not supposed to. Objects to avoid anything like corn cob, socks, balls, coins (pennies especially,) mulch, underwear, shoes, feminine products, and the list continues. In some cases the object can pass through or be vomited up. However, foreign bodies can potentially make pets very sick and will require surgery to removed the item. It’s very important we reduce the risk of our pets consuming household items, especially with puppies during the teething stage. If you have noticed that your pet has consumed any foreign material, consult with your veterinarian as soon as possible.
