Fluids
November 1, 2016

Whether it be subcutaneous (under the skin; sub-q, sq) or intravenous (through the veins; IV), fluids provide our pets with hydration their body loses when they are sick or undergoing a surgical procedure. Depending on the severity of illness, some pets require hospitalization and IV fluids while others may only require an amount of fluid administered sub-q. All patients under anesthesia are subject to IV fluids to regulate blood pressure, ensure hydration and flush anesthetic agents out of the body.
