DIY Cat Furniture
August 15, 2017

Does your cat have some furniture of her own? If so, that’s terrific! Kitties always appreciate having some things they don’t have to share. You don’t have to drain your bank account getting Fluffy’s things, though. There are lots of great options for DIY cat furniture. A local Western Orange County, FL vet lists a few of them below.

Kitty Tower

Cat towers are great for our feline friends. Fluffy not only can use her tower as a nail care station, she’ll also gain a jungle gym and a napping spot. Cat towers also let your kitty get up to a higher vantage point, so she can get a better view of her kingdom. Repurpose an old stepladder by widening out the planks with smooth boards, and then wrap the whole thing in sisal rope or carpet. You can also do this with a bookshelf, storage rack, or, if you’re really feeling motivated, real tree branches.

Cat Hammock

All you need to do to make Fluffy her own little kitty hammock is to get an end table or coffee table with four legs, and a piece of material. Cut the material so that it’s the same dimensions as the tabletop, but a little smaller, and then attach the corners to the chair legs. Voila!

Window Seat

Our feline friends love birdwatching! It’s very easy to make Fluffy a window seat. Just use a smooth board or plank to widen out your windowsill. If you want to score extra purrs, use Velcro to attach a comfy kitty bed.

Beds

As far as Fluffy is concerned, there simply is no such thing as too many beds. There are many great ways to make your kitty some comfy beds. Repurpose an old end table with doors by removing the doors, and putting soft bedding inside. If you like, use paint or stencils to dress it up. You can also turn a hardshell suitcase or hatbox into a cozy bed for your four-legged pal. Or, just add pillows or blankets to a large wicker basket.

Pet Tent

You can make Fluffy a little pet tent out of an old tee shirt and a wire hangar in just a few minutes. Look online for step-by-step instructions.
